make money online

For begginers,how to make money
An easiest way to make money online is with effective Marketing. You don't have to create a product, set up a shopping cart and merchant account, do customer service, work with clients, etc. It's very much like a traditional commission-based sales job where you earn commission on any sales you refer. Just as one example, you can promote a web hosting affiliate program and earn commission on every new account sign-up.
The difference is that you're doing it online, and you can do it from home without ever doing in-person or phone sales. You simply recommend products and/or refer people to specific merchants through the content on your website.
The method I prefer is creating SEO Content, or content that is optimized to rank well in the major search engines. People find it when they are searching for that, click through, and buy what they need or want. This works really well because you write the content once, and it continues to rank well and earn you money for years to come. As long as you maintain your search engine rankings.
"How can I earn 10k $ a month or more?
How to achieve it?"
I know this is stating the obvious, but it should be said:
It takes time, work, and being both persistent and consistent. An online business is the same as any other business in that it requires an investment on your part to get it up and running. The positive side of online business is that it takes a lot less time and money than most traditional offline business models.

1. Sell Stuff

There are many places that you can sell things online, including maxi,  Ebay, and Amazon.
You can sell pretty much anything you want on these sites. It’s very easy to make money by getting rid of things around the house that you no longer need. My personal favourite website is Kijiji because it is free to list things for sale and the site is very easy to use.

2. Sell Homemade Goods on Etsy

Are you crafty? If so, you should really consider selling your stuff on Etsy – one of the best sites for selling homemade goods. There are a ton of members and visitors that visit this website every day to see what’s new, so you will have a large audience that you can sell your products to.
Check out this great post to learn how to increase your chances of selling your goods: 12 Tips for Selling on Etsy.

3. If you have time then Become a Freelance Writer

There are many websites out there that will actually pay you to speak your mind. If you are knowledgeable about certain things (finance, child care, housekeeping, etc.), there is likely a company that is looking for someone like you to write articles for their website, magazine or newspaper.
About.com and Wise Bread are 2 companies that I would recommend looking into.

4. Start a Blog

Before I say anything about blogging, please note that you should NOT start a blog to make money. You should start a blog because you love to write and share with others. If you do this, eventually the money will come. It just takes a while.
There are many ways that you can make money with your blog: Google Adsense, private advertising, affiliate marketing (such as Amazon Associates), eBooks and more.
Here are a few more tips on blogging for money.

5. Use Swagbucks

Using Swagbucks is a great way to earn “money” online. All you have to do is use their search engine and you will earn “bucks”. Once you have enough of those bucks you can trade them in for cash (through Paypal) and/or gift cards to local and online stores.
Be sure to check out my article on how to earn Swagbucks faster.

6. Complete Surveys

There are many reputable survey sites such as Canada Talk Now, Opinion Outpost, and Cash Crate that you can work for.
Don’t expect to make a whole bunch of money taking online surveys. You will often only be able to earn pocket change.
That money can go toward a monthly treat (a specialty coffee, a new book, etc.), though, so it may be worth the small amount of time it takes to complete these surveys.
Making money online is very hard. I didn’t start making much money myself until I’d been blogging for over 2 years!
Although it does take time (like any other job), there is something so rewarding about being able to work online from your own home (or anywhere you can get an internet connection). Maybe it’s the fact that you get to live in your pajamas (not that you should!), take breaks whenever you want and be your own boss – those are some of the things I love about my job!
The main thing to remember is that if you want to make anything more than pocket change online, you absolutely must treat your job as a job – not as a hobby.

7) Choose a Good Intro Image

An effective, self-explanatory image is essential for your post to become a hit. Choose high quality, relevant images.

8) Your own Screenshots Only

Many bloggers copy paste images in tutorial posts, which is a disaster thing to do. Always use your own screenshots while telling your viewers how to do something. This increases your credibility.

Twitter is a great social networking site to attract traffic from western countries. Majority of the users are from west and publicizing your post in twitter can attract those users to become your readers.

25) Allow Links in Comments

The real bloggers have actually got no interest in coming to your blog all the way and read your articles only out of good will. In fact, they are themselves looking for opportunities on your blog to introduce their work. Allowing bloggers to leave their links in their comments will give them a reason to come to your blog again and again, increasing your traffic.

26) Maintain decency

It is a pity that sometimes bloggers fail badly to respect their profession and use their blog more than an informative platform and use it unethically. As a blogger, you need to earn some respect through the way you address your readers, and its only then that people actually start respecting your blog.

27)Use Keywords

Using keywords in your posts keeps you and Search engines happy at the same time. Always try to play with keywords of the post to get more page views, further increasing your earnings.

28) Give Value to your Headlines

Your selection for titles of the post is the most important thing when it comes to your creativity. This was one of those things that I used to find really difficult, initially. Your readers Judge the entire post with the title; always try to keep simple and straight forward titles.

29) Keep Updating the Blog

If you aim high for your blog and do not want it to become outdated just like iGoogle, then keep upgrading it to ensure that your blog meets up the changing demands of readers. Changing blog design once in six months can also be a good decision.

30) Keep Drafts ready

As a blogger its your responsibility to ensure the regular posting on your blog. However as blogging is an entrepreneurship business, where you are answerable to nobody, there are wide chances that you might skip your postings due to some other engagements. Therefore keep your 5 posts saved in drafts at minimum always. Make sure that the posts you choose to save as drafts have a timeless effect in them, the posts that can be published in all scenarios, like How-to posts, Best tips, etc.

31) Easy to read Fonts.

Blogs owning a lucida Handwriting font might give it an unprofessional look for sure. Keep your Font style and size readable for your readers.

32) Give a strong competition

There is always an unsaid war going on in between you and bloggers, writing for same niche. Try to give a tough time to them with your skills that are needed to be polished further with your each post!

33) Set an Inspiration

Having an inspiration in life is really a motivating thing and if you have no ideal personalities, then better start searching them. Reading about great people, here, blogs will always create a feeling to follow similar footsteps to reach on similar levels of success.

34) Be Yourself

This tip is given by almost all the bloggers who share tutorials on similar topics, that is the reason; I have listed this too common tip here. Being yourself mean that you should never place a wrong impact on your readers about either you or your knowledge. Become the master of your domain and do not fake about things you hardly know!

35) Never Give Up

Your one post cannot decide about your efficiency, it is just like some days are not meant for you. As a blogger, I m a living witness of it! What happen actually is the frequency of your readers and yours do not match at times; your readers, having a complete freedom of speech do not think once giving you a bad comment. But this is the point you need to check your post views. The post itself made it in attracting enough traffic that few of them dislike it. Although that feeling is pathetic, still keep your spirits high and start working on the next post, hoping to have some better results. You will see, soon things will start working out.
That was all for now, hope that these tips turn out to beneficial for you in your blogging career.

Make your blog popular – 9 methods that work!

1. Customize Your Blog Design

I have posted this like what, hundred times before. Well without a doubt, design matters. This is very important my friends and that is why I have listed it first. Every blog should have a unique design. People are attracted to something that is unique and interesting. When a person visits your blog, the design gives them the first impression and this determines the amount of time they spend browsing your blog. Now to be honest, if your blog has a crappy design, I am not going to visit it. Even if I visit it accidently, I might spend a few seconds before I leave and bam.
Look at this blog. How cool is it? :) I am sure you can setup something similar or decent. Practice makes perfection so keep tweaking and trying out new layout, design and navigation and focus on creating the best user experience for your readers.
There are plenty of decent templates you can find online. I am running a customized thesis theme which is one of my favorites and it powers almost 80% of my websites. I chose thesis over woothemes and others because it gives you ton of sweet options such as buttons to easily change fonts, color and seo capability. It is easily customizable and if you know a little code like I do, you can create awesome designs in no time.

2. Add Your Blog to Blog Communities

Blog communities are really popular for blogs. Other bloggers and web enthusiasts are constantly checking out these communities for networking and information. There are many communities you can submit your blog to but it’s better to stick with the ones which are popular and have a decent Google PR (pagerank).
I have posted a list of top article and blog directories so check them out and submit your blog right away.
Remember: When you follow a blog that you find interesting, and you contribute something nice through commenting on it, you are basically increasing your visibility in the community. A lot of people will check you out and also subscribe to your blog if you are good. Always try to participate in a network and engage in conversations. Whether you write a blog post or a comment, make sure it delivers some value to the community.

3. Write Tutorials and Pillar Articles

I have followed Yaro Starak who is one of the top bloggers. Yaro has always emphasized the importance of pillar articles. Now think about this, if you write an article about what happened on a certain day, the content is meant only for that day and with time it gets old. But, if you write a How-to Article or a tutorial that solves a problem, it stays there forever.
Let me explain. If you write something about “How to get rid of twitter spam or How to get loyal readers to your blog”, you know that you can use these tutorials whenever you want and they won’t get old because the same method would apply all the time. Lots of people will share it and bookmark it for future reference. Pillar articles are killers and you can easily write at least 5-6 a month.
Check out my wordpress hacking prevention guide which got shared over thousand times throughout various social networks. The post was retweeted more than 700 times and is growing every day. It’s really not a big deal to see such numbers especially when your posts are awesome and solves a community problem.

4. Be a Guest Author on Popular Blogs

Most blogs you will come across these days accept guest posts. Popular blogs like problogger, shoemoney, johnchow just to name a few; they all give new bloggers a chance to get noticed through guest blogging. Now this is a great opportunity and shouldn’t be missed. You can’t just post anything you like but it should be related to the niche and you have to prove your worth. One blog post on some of these popular blogs can get you huge amount of traffic.
How to find blogs that accept guest posts? How about you Google terms such as “guest post by” or you can check out this blog post on kissmetrics that explains guest blogging in details.
Writing guest posts is a truly amazing way to get noticed and drive traffic to your blog. Don’t forget the link juice you get and waves of new subscribers.

5. Give Something to Download for Free

I love free stuff, don’t you? A good way to gain readership and make your blog popular is to give free stuff to the public. It can be almost anything; an eBook, a wordpress theme, some popular tools or even free online class. Based on the experience from my other blogs, people love free things especially when they are premium and valuable.
There are several PLR content that you could give away to your readers. Whatever you decide to give, make sure it is worth downloading. Ask yourself, would you download it yourself? If you wouldn’t download the free stuff yourself, you can’t expect others to download it either. Quality matters my friend and if your stuff is good, people will just keep coming.

6. Blog Frequently

Fresh content is the key to your blog’s success. Do not just blog once a week and expect people to check in every day. Your readers are hungry for information and they expect to see something valuable and new on your blog frequently. I know sometimes you can get busy and have days when you don’t feel like blogging, and it is completely ok. If blogging is your passion, you will manage time for a post; it comes naturally my friends.
The search engines can find out how often you blog and they love fresh content. The more often you post to your blog, the better it gets. Of course, unless you follow a different blogging style such as Glen at viperchill who makes 1 – 3 posts per month. Glen has a unique style of creating blog posts. Most of his posts go above 4000 word limit and if you carefully notice, he has a lot of lengthy pillar articles on his blog. And as a result, viperchill gets 10 times more traffic than most other blogs combined in the similar niche. Viperchill is the proof that quality content matters over quantity of posts.
Whatever style you adapt, make sure your content is unique because at the end of the day, that is what matters the most.

7. Link Love

One of the best ways to get your blog noticed is to trade links with other bloggers in the same niche. There are multiple ways you can approach a blogger or an author and request for a link love. You can email them (make sure you don’t spam), you can comment on their blog post and request and of course add them on your facebook and discuss about it. I personally do not do this right now because google doesn’t give much value to such links.
The best way to get link love is through guest blogging as mentioned earlier. Try creating some great blog posts in some popular blogs and you will get both traffic and quality backlinks.

8. Create a Facebook Page and Promote it

Facebook pages are rising in popularity. Check your account right now and tell me how many invitations you got to join a page. I bet it’s a lot. Create a facebook page for your blog right now and start sharing it with other millions of facebook users. When requesting to join your page, make sure you don’t spam because it can be really irritating. You can also set up your blog’s RSS Feed on the Page itself so that people can check out your posts without even visiting your blog.
The new facebook timeline gives you lots of options. There are lots of amazing facebook apps that you can use to integrate your blog with facebook and make sharing easy breezy. Some good methods you can use to promote your facebook page is by adding a widget on your blog, adding a popup like button, writing a blog post on it and also including the page details in your newsletter. Facebook is huge and the traffic is legit. The quicker you create your page and get involved with it, the better social presence you will have.

9. Get a Twitter Account and Tweet your Posts

I am sure by now most bloggers have a twitter account. Forget bloggers, pretty much everyone has a twitter account today, and they use it to broadcast what they eat, when they sleep etc. There is no problem in doing that but to make it a little more productive, how about tweeting your blog posts to your followers instead.
People follow you because they are interested in sharing things with you. When you tweet, they are most likely willing to check it out. I like the idea of microblogging because it makes it easy for you to share your opinion and cool stuff with the world. Achieving the celebrity status on twitter is everyone’s dream. If you deliver value through tweets, you will have created a huge network of loyal followers who will retweet your stuff which eventually drive massive traffic to your blog. Retweets matter. Remember, retweets do not only help in driving traffic but also help in search engine optimization.
separator
I hope you have found this article useful. I would appreciate if you share it and spread the word. Keep following the right thing, learn and adapt and, I promise that your blog will reach new heights. What other ways can you make your blog popular?

how to increase website traffic

how to increase website ranking in google
how to check website traffic
how to check website worth
here are some techniques to increase website traffic
read all techniques to increase web traffic
Search engine optimization is about ways to get your website to the top of search engines. This cannot be stressed enough. You can do this by generating useful content like articles and blogs, by social networking and the development of multimedia. This sounds easy but it’s a lot of hard work. Still, you can also strategically spread your content in different websites while keeping your target niche in mind. Be very careful not to overlink to pages within your site, this is a new penalty from Google's most recent update.

After on-page optimization, you can go build your back links to your site. With backlinks, search engines will directly index your websites after finding the links. No need to submit your website to the search engines themselves. Your backlinks will do the work for you.

Offer free, original, and quality content on your site. This is the most effective means for increasing traffic to a website; offering people something that they cannot obtain elsewhere, or at least, not to the level of quality that you are offering it. Ways in which to ensure that your content is of higher quality than competitors or is unique include:

  • Creating content that is helpful and useful. Simply cobbling together information from another website will not generate traffic. You need to offer visitors the information they need to achieve a goal, solve a problem, be entertained, find out quality news or have a good laugh.
  • Keep it fresh. For repeat visits, it is crucial to provide regular updates to the website, especially in frequently viewed zones. Add fresh content every few days if possible; at a minimum, weekly.
  • To have a fully functioning and successful website, you need to make sure your tags are in place and your links are not broken. You also need to submit a sitemap.xml file to Google to have your website show up in Google's search engines. There is a tool that inspects websites just in case you missed tags and links and it creates a free sitemap.xml file. It gives you results in minutes.
  • Outsource article writing. If you hate the thought of generating content yourself, or your team is not writing-savvy, consider outsourcing this end of the task. Depending on the length, content, specialization and quality required, prices can start as low as US$5 per article. However, don't neglect attempting to write your own work - who better than you knows your own business, hobby or club and can express precisely what needs to be said? Just sit down and start writing an article. You may be impressed when you're done!
  • Add video to your landing pages (VLP - Video Landing Page) that is informative and relevant to your site. Respected studies show that good video can improve conversions and page ranking more than most any other item you can add to your pages.
  • Use landing pages for fast fulfillment of your PPC advertisement.
  • Launch some contests. It'll draw you instant traffic. You can Goggle search some free sponsor program and do such contest frequently.
Supplement your original content.
  • Leverage available free content from sources with Creative Commons licenses that support your website message that readers will share.
  • Find for-fee products that will allow you to fully use premium branded content that is legally allowed to be shared.
Trying to get more backlinks on your website this may help to increase the traffic.
  • Get a proofreader. Poor spelling and grammar reflect badly on the services and information being provided; avoid unwarranted negative judgments by getting the writing in order prior to publication online.
  • Avoid content generators. While these were once the delight of a fledgling web industry, they are no longer useful. Putting your own team's creativity online is what is useful.
  • Never copy and paste from another website - Google, Yahoo, MSN and other search engines are too smart for this nowadays and will detect copied and unoriginal content, sending you to the bottom of the pile.
Improve your search engine ranking by focusing your content on keywords related to your topic. This is called search engine optimization and will help people find your website when they're searching the Web. Make sure the keywords flow naturally with the text and when you are brainstorming for good words, ask around for words that come naturally to people of all ages when looking for your type of site. To help you understand better, realize that the keywords not only go into headings and page names but also into "meta tags". "Meta tags" are the software code that website visitors do not see but search engines do. Finally, don't overdo the keywords; over-stuffing keywords will result in a very low search ranking for your website. Also, be very careful not to place key text inside graphics; search engines cannot pick up graphics.

Get linked. This is a very important part of website management. Exchange links. Trading links with other websites that are closely related to the subject of your website can bring you more website traffic. These are two-way links because you must provide a link to them, too, and linking to low-quality websites can threaten the credibility of yours. Only link to sites that are dead on topic, and truly help your visitors. Instead of trading links, you could also trade banner ads, half page ads, classified ads, etc.

Be sure to not be too excessive with your link exchanges and do not make this your entire link building method.

Google webmaster guidelines specifically says to not engage in link schemes including "Excessive reciprocal links or excessive link exchanging ("Link to me and I'll link to you.")"

Use social media. Post compelling content and you’ll soon build a loyal following. Follow and share with other users, who may reciprocate and follow you. Keeping up to date with social media and finding time to post can be tricky, but it’s well worth it. Let people talk and become part of a community and they’ll promote your content for you. This will save you a great deal of time, and they will share much further than via conventional strategies.

Advertise your presence. Besides using links, you must make use of numerous other ways to increase web traffic. Sit down and write a list of all the ways you can think of to get your web address noticed and clicked on. For example:

  • If you have money - consider pay per click. The big search engines like Google, Yahoo, Microsoft provide schemes. But find out first how to limit your expenditure to the level you want.
  • Use e-zines. Make your own that relate to your website and form a regular reminder each issue for people to visit your website. Submit all the free e-zine directories on the internet.
  • Submit your articles to e-zines, websites and writing sites that accept article submissions. Include your business information and web address at the end of the article. This is a good way to create one-way back links to your website. This is the most effective way to get listed on any search engine. Usually, the more relevant links you have pointing to your site the higher you will rank.
  • Go beyond the electronic medium and into the print medium. Advertise in local newspapers, business brochures, magazines, nationwide publications and mail-drop literature. And don't forget the perennial favorite, the good old Yellow Pages™ - printed version naturally!
  • Small business cards left in cafés, on signboards, exchanged at meetings etc.
  • Use local resources such as clubs, libraries and community centers for non-profit website awareness raising.
  • Participate on message boards. Post answers to other people's questions, ask questions and post appropriate information. Include your signature file containing your website's URL at the end of all your postings.
  • Start your own online discussion community. It could be an online message board, e-mail discussion list or chat room. When people get involved in your community, they will regularly return to communicate with others.
  • Use word of mouth. Tell everyone you know about your website, give out business cards to passers-by in the street, and so on. You might even want to run a guerrilla marketing program!
  • Use your car, especially if your website is area-specific (e.g. a website detailing local events or selling local services). Get some vinyl decals or bumper stickers created and turn your car into a moving advertisement, literally driving traffic to your web site!
Give freebies. Who doesn't like a freebie?! Online freebies are commonplace and they leave the visitor wanting more when they are well written and informative introductory materials. Consider such freebies as:

  • Giving away an eBook with your ad on it. Allow your visitors to also give the freebie away. This'll increase your ad exposure and increase web traffic to your website at the same time;
  • Holding free online classes or seminars. They could be held in your website's chat room. The idea of "live" information will definitely entice people to visit your website. You will become known as an expert on the topic.
  • Giving visitors a free entry into your contest or sweepstakes. The prizes should be something of interest or value to your visitors. Most people who enter will continually revisit your web site to get the results.
  • Letting visitors download free software such as freeware, shareware, demos etc. You could even turn part of your site into a free software directory. If you created the software, include your ad inside and let other people give it away.
  • Targeting specific groups who might worry about using the internet with free classes in using it on your site - senior citizens, busy workers etc. might find these convenient and alluring.
  • Offering free online services or utilities from your website. For instance, they could be search engine submitting, copywriting, proofreading etc. The service or utility should be helpful to your target audience.
  • Giving free consulting to people who visit your website. You could offer your knowledge via e-mail or by telephone. People will consider this a huge value because consulting fees can be very expensive.
  • Offering a free start-up package that has a finite time; enough time for the customer to practice with your online product and like it enough to pay for continued use.
  • Sending out free CD-Roms, CDs, DVDs etc. that contain starter packs or teasers to encourage the customer to use your site more.
  • Offering free screensavers or templates for business cards, cards, writing paper etc., anything that a customer can print out.
Be patient. Search engines need a lot of time to index a new website and domain. They need time to index all your content; it's worth the wait and should be factored into your website profitability and/or popularity timeline. In the meantime, continue to add high quality content to your website and keep it up to date and relevant.

Use all of these free techniques to increase traffic to your website: USFreeads.net, twitter.com, bloggvertise.com, drop flyers, chat rooms, forums, Myspace and Google Groups.

Balance your page. To improve your website, balance your page because when users enter a website, their focus first starts at the top left of the page and hovers there before slowly tracking to the right. The web user is focused more on the text of the page, rather than images or graphics. This is where balance comes into place.
Balance will not only make your page more visually appealing, but it will make your page easier to read and items easier to find. A good object will help the objects on your page flow.
Keeping it simple. If you clean your website up by removing all the unnecessary visual elements, it will allow important items to stand out. You should leave some white space on the page so the illusion of the space is visually pleasing, as well as easier to navigate.
  1. Clean backgrounds. The background textures and colour you chose have the ability to estimate the overall appeal of the website. Lots of texture and graphics in the background can be distracting, and the more texture you add to the background, the less noticeable your text and images become. If you are going to use a colour on the background, you should make sure there is significant contrast between the background colour and the text. You will rarely go wrong with black text and white background because it’s clean and easy to read. You have to be careful when using brighter and darker colours such as red or yellow. They cause visual fatigue (temporary loss of strength and energy resulting from hard physical or mental work) and the reader will lose their focus on the text.
  2. For easy navigation, you should create a toolbar with links that are easy to navigate and position the toolbar in an area that makes sense. Web users often look for the toolbar across the top or down the left the left hand side of the page. You shouldn’t forget a link to your homepage. It’s often forgotten but very important to point your users to your homepage.
  3. Text readability should make your pages easy to read, break up blocks of text and create short paragraphs. You should consider the key points on each page and create headings and subheadings use one or two fonts. You should select one font for your headings and subheadings and another for the body text and highlight key words and phrases by bolding or using a different colour. You should be careful when selecting colours, and not to use every colour in the rainbow. Many such as yellow and pink don’t stand out well if you’ve selected a white or black background.
  4. Scrolling Horizontal scrolling- it would be better if you get rid of horizontal scrolling because users hate to scroll left to right. It's disorienting and annoying, so if you've got it, lose it. Vertical scrolling is ok if you have to have it, but consider moving larger blocks of information to another page and providing links. There's also the danger of missing vital information that falls below the screen if a user decides not to scroll down to view it. So if you’ve got to have a scrolling page, try to keep all your important information above the fold.
  5. Make it quick. We all get impatient when it takes more than 5 seconds to connect to a website. Users want to make contact, and make it quick. You need to ensure that your pages load as quickly as possible. Eliminate unnecessary graphics, especially flash graphics they can be time hogs.

Search engine optimization (SEO)

Position & optimize your web site traffic
with search engines & directories

Website development

Identify your audienceIs your audience
local? regional? national? international? professional? content driven?
Keep perspective on developing your website:
you are not competing with Microsoft, the United Nations, or the Library of Congress
Review your contentWhat in your content is valuable to your audience?
Recommendations:
  • create intuitive and obvious navigation; enable multiple topical "entry points"
  • clearly present current content
  • published research and items of interest
  • establish credibility with the credentials of authors and list awards
  • include a few items of personal interest (humanize)
  • delete gimmicks or gratuitous technology or distracting graphics that have no purpose to that of the website
  • facilitate contacts and feedback:
    make it simple!
Structure your content
for convenient and intuitive navigation and access

Your audience should easily find what they are looking for
A web site of links has little value compared to search engines and directories
Positioning your web site for search engines, directories, and portalsDo not promote a site that is not well-developed
First (bad) impressions will affect later positioning.

Content development:

  • Competitive landscape:
    Compare your site to similar sites;
    Determine critical keywords/search terms
  • Prioritize keyword density
    Constructively and proactively use keywords in your home page content;
make sure it reflects the content
Metatags:Metatags are located in the HTML source code of a web page that detail administrative information about a web site/page. Some information is also scanned by portals, directories, and search engines and listed in the web site's description,
such as < title > and < description >
  • Title metatag Displayed in the top line of a browser, and often duplicated in listings of search engines, etc.
  • Description metatag:
Employs keywords well-reflective of content; duplicated in Alta Vista's listings of your site
Should be consistent for all submissions: directories, search engines, portals
Should be descriptive, not hyped: The Open Directory Project (ODP) rejects sites with promotional descriptions.
  • Keyword metatag:
    Generally obsolete but still necessary:
Google does not index the metatag for "keywords"
  • Add metadata to imageswith the < alt > tag and include/reinforce keywords
